CHILDREN’S WISHES COME TRUE AT UPPER CLEMENTS PARKS

As summer fun was ramping up at Upper Clements Parks, on July11th, the staff took time out to take part in the fourth annual Children’s Wish Foundation’s Wish-Nik fundraiser. The sun was bright as over 400 family members from the Foundation received free bracelets and began a wonderful day free of worry, playing in the Parks. Lunch was courtesy of Upper Clements, barbequed and served by park employees.

In the afternoon there were fundraising events such as the loonie toss and several games of chance. The day was capped by the presentation of a generous donation on behalf Upper Clements Parks by General Manager, Gregg Gaul.

Upper Clements Parks is proud to be a supporter of the Childrens’ Wish Foundation. Every Wednesday from now until the end of the season is “Wish Wednesday”. For every purchase of a premium bracelet at Admissions on Wednesdays, Upper Clements Parks will donate one dollar. Over the last four years Upper Clements Parks has donated to the Children’s Wish Foundation in cash and in-kind, an excess of $100,000.

Upper Clements Parks are owned and operated by The Hanse Society, a non-profit organization of local volunteers.

UPPER CLEMENTS PARKS HIT 20TH ANNIVERSARY ON A ROLL

UPPER CLEMENTS - Upper Clements Parks has reason to celebrate as it heads into its 20th anniversary season on a roll.

In spite of the downturn in the economy and the tourism industry, the Parks continue to soar, now with four straight years of operating surpluses and increased visitation. In 2008, Atlantic Canada's premier fun park destination, located near Annapolis Royal, achieved a same-day increase of 11 percent over 2007. At its annual general meeting held on May 21st, Hanse Society chairman David Brown praised the efforts of both staff and management for the success of the Parks, which are now debt-free and have not received any provincial funding for over two years. “The Volunteer Board of Directors of the Hanse Society, owners of the Upper Clements Parks, know that our success over the recent years is mainly due to our committed Management Team and employees, who strive to make our facilities a top notch experience for our valued visitors,” Mr. Brown said.

Understanding the importance of having these attractions located and flourishing in the area, The Hanse Society has invested over $1,000,000 in capital expenditure over the past three years. New additions last season included the popular Haunted House and Fun Zone, interactive games attractions, and new food services. The Park also introduced new premium passes for single season admissions and for its hugely popular laser tag attraction. New for 2009 is a Family Premium Season Park Pass, which can be purchased at the gates or online, as well as a number of specials and events planned for the Parks' 20th anniversary celebration. Along with the new attractions and pricing the Parks continue to develop and expand their popular “Park After Dark” series of Saturday evening entertainment, with seven new shows planned for 2009, which conclude with fireworks. Gregg Gaul, general manager of Upper Clements Parks, said careful consideration has been given to producing an entertainment package that delivers real value. “We continue to improve our visitors' experience by investing in our offerings and infrastructure, while building on our value proposition and providing an affordable destination,” Gaul said.

Upper Clements Parks includes a theme park with some 50 rides and attractions and family-pleasing Picnic Park. The Hanse Society, a volunteer, community-based group, took over ownership of the Parks in 2007.
