Applying

All applicants must be over the age of 15 before applying
  • Must have WHMIS
  • Must have 1st Aid/CPR level A before starting work
  • Must be able to legally work within Canada
  • Must be able to speak English
  • All applicants must be available to work during the operating season, until Labour day
Returning employees must submit an application form before 1st May.

Application Form

The application form is in PDF format. You can not submit it by e-mail if you are using a web based e-mail account such as Hotmail or Gmail. You will need to print the application off and fax it through to (902) 532-7681.

  • Ensure the form is filled out completely.
  • Check for spelling errors and ensure contact details are correct.
  • You have provided information that is not false or misleading.
  • If applicable, send a copy of your resume outlining detailed work experience.
Qualifying

To ensure we can make a fair assessment of your application it is important to supply as much information about yourself as possible in relation to the position or positions you have applied for.

  • Complete all the details about previous employment.
  • Include any activities outside of the work place, Volunteering, Sporting, community etc.
  • Write down all your qualifications, skills and certifications.
  • Previous employee references are required, (where there has been previous employment).
Interviews

All applications will be screened by the HR manager and only candidates that are considered qualified will be asked to attend interviews. Due to the volume, all applications will not be responded to, only the ones required for interview.

  • Be on time for your interview
  • Dress appropriate remember we are interviewing candidates that will represent Upper Clements Parks. Untidy appearance or inappropriate dress will not help secure a position at the Parks. DO NOT CHEW GUM.
  • Smile and make eye contact with your interviewer, you are applying to work in a public environment and visual communication is important.
  • Good grooming and posture is a must.
  • Come prepared to answer questions relating to your work experience or activities that will help define you. Engaging the interviewer in conversation is important and shows your ability to communicate with others. Show interest in the position you are applying for and ask questions.
  • Be honest with your answers, giving false information will only lead to rejection.
Not all candidates who have conducted good interviews will be employed due to the volume of applicants and the available positions. Your details will remain on a short list for future consideration.

Offer of Employment

An offer of employment will go out to successful candidates usually by the preferred method of e-mail. Those candidates without an e-mail address will be contacted by phone.

  • Reply to the offer to confirm acceptance of the position
  • Attach copies of your WHMIS and 1st Aid/CPR certificates
  • Confirm Important date information
Important Dates

Included in the offer of employment will be a list of dates that the employee will need to confirm as being able to attend.

  • Orientation and training
  • Employment start dates, (students will need to provide dates available to work if their start date is prior to their educations end of term).
  • Last available day of work for the season.
  • Any appointments that you have to attend during the operating season
